Big Bear Track Club is an upcoming elite training group established in 2014 and is based in Big Bear Lake California. Although being a new track team, the distance training group has developed world class athletes and has achieved several world standard times in distances ranging from the 800m to the 1500m. Multiple athletes have achieved top three finishes in Diamond League events, under coach Joe Vigil. BBTC has also developed a strong presence in Southern California community, and is working on establishing ongoing relationships with sponsors and contributors, both locally and nationally.
To date, Big Bear TC has played a significant role in improving American distance running and plans to do so throughout the foreseeable future. The Team’s mission since 2001 is to:
• Provide an opportunity for talented Middle and Long distance runners to train in an environment that will prepare them to compete on a level with the best in the nation and in the world, including Olympic competition.
• Raise awareness of the sport of distance running through promotional and marketing activities.
• Participate in related community outreach programs, such as clinics, camps, school programs and speaking appearances, in particular working with youth to inspire and motivate them toward healthy lifestyles and goal setting.
• Serve as a focal point for distance running in SoCal and for the rest of the nation, a sport that attracts thousands of participants for fitness, exercise and competition.
Big Bear TC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has a coach, a team of board of directors.
BBTC Board of Directors is a volunteer group comprised of experienced runners who are involved in a variety of ways with the sport of distance running. Their professional experience includes marketing and promotion, fundraising, finance, management, technology, research, healthcare and coaching.
Community and Promotional Activities
Big Bear TC athletes participate in selected community outreach activities, such as clinics, seminars and speaking appearances, with an emphasis on health, fitness and motivation. In particular, the athletes focus on youth running programs with several coaching high school cross country and track teams.
In addition, Big Bear Track Club helps raise awareness of the sport of distance running through a variety of promotional and marketing activities, including weekly news releases and sponsorship appearances.
Big Bear Track Club has an ongoing fundraising effort to provide support for the athletes. Individuals, organizations and businesses are invited to participate in this program. For corporate sponsors, BBTC will work to determine the best opportunities to match both budget and marketing/community relations needs. (see Sponsors).
